ABOUT
Megan Shaughnessy has been a visual artist for over 20 years, exhibiting in both the US and internationally. Megan received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and an MA (equivalent to an MFA) from Norwich University of the Arts in the UK.
Megan began her career in photography and pivoted to illustration in 2020. In 2021, Megan published her first storybook for children, Orla & Otis: Lost & Found, which is about finding and nurturing your imagination.
Megan knew she wanted to be an artist from an early age, however her love of reading came after many hard years of tutoring for dyslexia, which unlocked a love of reading that still exists today and is the inspiration for so much of her work today. Megan hopes to ignite that same joy and passion for reading in all children via her books.
Megan’s bold and colorful illustrations are laced with a touch of darkness and humor. They are created using watercolor, pen and ink and when Megan isn’t illustrating, she is working on both a middle grade and a young adult novel.
Megan lives and works in Hamden, CT with her spouse, two kiddos, and a dog named Onyx.
